PART – Particle Research and Technology is a research group founded in 2026 at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), in Alegre, Espírito Santo, Brazil. Weare engaged in applied research, consulting, and technical expertise, with a focus on the generation of scientific knowledge and the training of qualified human resources to meet the demands of the public and private sectors.

Our activities are carried out at the Laboratory of Transport Phenomena and Unit Operations (LaFTOP), through an interdisciplinary approach that integrates expertise from Chemical, Mechanical, and Materials Engineering, as well as related fields such as Chemistry and Biology. We develop studies and innovative solutions in particulate systems, convective drying, transport phenomena, separation processes, and pyrolysis.

Our main scientific and technical competencies include:

  • characterization of lignocellulosic biomass and its derivatives;

  • adsorption for the removal of dyes, pharmaceuticals, heavy metals, and other emerging contaminants from aqueous systems;

  • design of equipment for fluid–solid physical separation, such as cyclones, hydrocyclones, and filter presses;

  • drying of granular and pasty materials using fluidization techniques (fluidized bed and spouted bed);

  • conventional and vacuum pyrolysis for the production of biochar and liquid fractions;

  • characterization and thermal degradation of microplastics; and

  • modeling and simulation of transport phenomena in particulate.

We invite you to explore our research, our team, our values, and the LaFTOPminfrastructure.
